Beginning at the age of eight with piano and flute lessons, as well as vocal ensemble and choral singing, Melatiah commenced training in classical voice at the age of fifteen. Along with the theater and dance training provided by Don Martello, Sonia Shaw, Paul Gleason, and Carlos Noble, Melatiah's musical knowledge and skills developed as the result of training by many excellent teachers and coaches, including John Harstick, Paul Bolman, Irwin Bell, Nancy Henninger, Norman Gulbrandsen, Margaret Hillis, Bunny Thornburgh, Thomas Cleveland, Gerald Eskelin, Natalie Limonick, Sue Raney, and Dick Grove.
As a soloist and member of the American Youth Symphony and Chorus and of the group The Forerunners, Melatiah has performed around the world – Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, South Korea, and Switzerland – as well as throughout the U.S.A.
After years of preparation, talent, training, and teamwork have converged, resulting in Melatiah's debut instrumental and vocal CD’s– Wind in the Wheat and Slava.
